KOJIC ACID DIPALMITATE.

Kojic Acid Dipalmitate is a modified kojic acid derivative, this modification makes it more stable, oil-soluble, and less irritating to the skin. A mixture of kojic acid and palmitic acid that functions as a skin-softening agent and a fat-soluble antioxidant. Although it’s more stable than kojic acid and can be absorbed into the skin more than Kojic Acid.

As a skin lightener, it inhibits the activity of tyrosinase in the skin and slows down melanin production. it can be mixed into a solution much more easily and is preserved much longer. For example, solutions containing kojic acid dipalmitate are stable at temperatures above 45 degrees celsius, but kojic acid solution will start to discolor when exposed to temperatures above 40 degrees celsius. Kojic acid dipalmitate is also stable between a PH of  4 and 7, while kojic acid is unstable at PH levels greater than 7. kojic acid dipalmitate does not discolor over time because it is stable to light, heat, ph and oxidation; and it does not chelate with metal ions
